(1923-99) Army Sgt., awarded the MOH for his actions near Lobendbacherhof, Germany, April 8, 1945. On his own initiative, Crews advanced up a hill under extreme enemy fire against machine gun and rifle positions that were sending deadly fire against his company. Reaching the first machine gun nest he killed two Germans at point blank range and then wrestled a gun from a German he had previously wounded. With this gun and despite a serious wound in the thigh, Crews charged the entrenched enemy, silencing the whole enemy position with his deadly fire and forcing 7 to surrender. While the German's had concentrated their fire on Crews, the remainder of the company moved forward to capture the village. Signed Medal of Honor Society Card
