Michener, James A. (1907-97) Best-selling Novelist and Writer known for his vast sweeping sagas which he usually began with years of ranch and residence at the play that was the subject of his books. In total he wrote 40 book including Tales of the South Pacific (Pulitzer Prize in 1948), Hawaii, The Drifter, Centennial, The Source, Chesapeake, Caribbean, Caravans, Alaska, Texas and Poland. His works have been made into films and Tales of the South Pacific was made into the Rogers and Hammerstein musical South Pacific. Signature
