(1921-2002) Postmaster General in Nixon's Administration (1969-70). The last Postmaster General to serve with cabinet rank and the first to serve as Postmaster General and Chmn., of the Board of the new U.S. Postal Service (1970-71). During WW II he served a B-29 pilot and after the war became rich as a contractor and served as President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce before becoming Postmaster General. Active in the Alabama Republican Party, he ran unsuccessfully for Senate. It was to work in Blount's unsuccessful Senate Campaign that was the reason George W. left the Texas National Guard and was supposed to attend meetings in Alabama. A recent article quoting numerous Blount staffers and family members remember Bush as a drunk, womanizing "party animal" who always showed up late and did such a poor job he was removed from most of his responsibilities. Sig.
