- Anni-Frid "Frida" Lyndstad (1945- ), Bjorn Ulvaeus (1945- ), Benny Andersson (1946- ) and Agnetha "Anna" Faltskog (1950- ). The group, which remained together from 1972-83, was one of the most commercially successful groups in music history and has so far, has sold almost 400,000,000 records making them the Second Best-selling Band in Music History and the Second Best-selling Pop Artists in Music History. The group's success came from brilliant harmonies, catchy, simple lyrics that when joined, made music that although "pop," could be enjoyed by people of all music tastes. At the beginning of their popularity Faltskog and Ulvaneus were married as were Lyndstad and Andersson. During their career both couples divorced causing problems within the group and their songs began to take on a more serious nature. Their popularity became worldwide and has remained so, long after the group¿s split in 1983. In 1999 their music got a boost from the musical Mama Mia!, based on their music toured the world and in 2008 was made into a film that became the highest ever grossing movie in British history. After the break up of ABBA each developed their own careers with varying success. Their international hits include Dancing Queen, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Take A Chance On Me, Mama Mia, Lay All Your Love On Me, I Have A Dream, The Winner Takes All, Money, Money, Money, S.O.S, Chiquitita, Fernando, Voulez-Vous,, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme (A Man After Midnight), Does Your Mother Know, One Of Us, The Name of the Game, Thank You For the Music, Waterloo, etc. They have only appeared together twice and reportedly turned down a billion dollar offer to go on tour again. Next month, March 2010, the group will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
