Akens (1940- ) Singer and Record Producer. Akens first recorded with Eddie Daniels as Jewel and Eddie with Eddie Cochran often playing with then on guitar. He recorded the 1965 classic, The Birds and the Bees, a song that went to #3 and was widely sung by teens of the time. The song has classed Akens as a "One Hit Wonder" but since the 60's he has recorded occasionally and is considered to have put out the finest covers of Thurston Harris' Little Bitty Pretty One and Arthur Alexander's You Better Move On. Akens has toured extensively, putting on shows based on his mentor , Sam Cooke. He toured with the Monkees, produced the Super Taylors and recorded with The Feathers. Signed Card.
