(1931- ) Juvenile Actor, best rembered as ¿Boy¿ in 7 Tarzan films and ¿Bomba ,the Jungle Boy¿ in 12 Bomba films etc. The son of Reginald Sheffield, a character actor, Johnny made his stage debut at 7 in long role as ¿Pud¿ in On Borrowed Time which he went with to Broadway. His father took him to try outs for ¿Boy¿ and Johnny Weismueller was so impressed he hired him over 300 boys. Sheffield had built himself up physically while young and Weismueller taught him to be an excellent swimmer. He made his first Tarzan film, Tarzan Finds a Son, in 1939 and made his last film Tarzan and the Huntress in 1947. Two years later he began the Bomba series with Bomba the Jungle Boy and the last of the series in Lord of the Jungle in 1955. This was his last film. He and his father made a jungle based TV pilot when it was not picked up he went to college, married and has worked at a series of jobs.
