(1904-84) Singer. Famed Metropolitan Opera Tenor with a long and successful career, debuting with the met in 1941 and remaining one of the company¿s star tenors for 19 years. Pearce became well known for also singing popular and stage music with his biggest hit coming in 1945 with Bluebird of Happiness.. He was one of Toscanini's favorite tenors and was the brother-in-law and personal and professional rival of Richard Tucker. At the age of 59 recorded what is considered one of the greatest recordings of The Student Prince and made his Broadway debut in 1971, at the age of 67, succeeding Paul Lipson in the role of Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, later recording an album of Fiddler in Yiddish. One reason for his national popularity were his regularly TV appearances, especially on Ed Sullivan. Irregularly Cut In Person Sig. on paper
